Compare locations and timing
Note whether freezing affects one shelf, a drawer, or food throughout the compartment. Write down when it began and whether someone recently changed a setting. Photograph the placement before rearranging items. That makes it easier to explain an uneven pattern during an appointment.
Check the controls and visible assembly
Review the correct temperature setting for your model and photograph any error message. The manufacturer also advises checking that the light diffuser is installed on applicable models. If a shelf or cover was removed during cleaning, mention that history; do not improvise replacement parts or block openings to change the temperature.
Use a meaningful measurement
A quick air reading immediately after opening the door may not represent how stored items are cooling. Follow Sub-Zero’s liquid-based measurement method and its stabilization period, using a suitable thermometer. Record the method and location alongside the number so the technician can interpret it.
Make one change at a time
Repeated adjustments can make the history difficult to follow. If the owner guide calls for a setting change, record it and allow the specified stabilization time while protecting affected items. If food continues freezing despite appropriate settings, arrange an assessment instead of continuing to compensate at the controls.
Explain the desired repair outcome
Bring examples of the affected foods, locations, photographs, readings, and the model number. Ask the technician to distinguish an actual temperature-control problem from a localized condition and explain what testing supports the proposed repair. The goal is stable storage conditions, not simply a different number on the display.
